Has google become sentient?

Scary thing that just happened to me.. I was looking at my logs and noticed someone had been to my portfolio site by searching on my full name. I put it into google because I was surprised it was near the top on such a general search (because there are heaps of other people with my name) and my personal weblog actually comes to the top. This is spooky because my personal weblog doesn’t actually have my full name on it anywhere and it never has and I don’t think the pages of my site that link to it do either.

According to Google, nobody has the same name as me anywhere. Any Harriyotts found on Google are either me or my family. Thing is, nobody can actually spell it…

I always have to look it up on Developer Fussion when I want to check your blog away from my laptop :)

Helen,

Google won’t only be looking at the text on your own site that links to your blog – there’s probably text from other sites (Developer Fusion for one!) that links to your blog using your name :)

Yeah, but this is my personal blog. Noone links to that because the only people who read it are my friends. :)

I’d better write some more then. I’ve had writer’s blog recently :-)
